Overview
The NPORS N204 Forward Tipping Dumper course is designed to prepare operators for the safe, controlled and responsible use of forward tipping dumpers on construction sites and related working environments. Training focuses on building operator understanding of machine controls, stability, loading, travelling, tipping and general site awareness, helping delegates operate safely and efficiently in line with recognised industry standards.
Because forward tipping dumpers are regularly used on uneven terrain and around active plant, the course places strong emphasis on pre-use checks, safe loading and tipping practice, slope awareness, work area safety and correct shutdown procedures. Delivery is arranged by enquiry so that delegate experience level, required route and any site-specific requirements can be reviewed before training takes place.

What you’ll learn
- Understand forward tipping dumper types, components and operational limitations
- Carry out pre-use checks and identify faults or defects
- Operate the machine safely and efficiently in line with site rules
- Travel and manoeuvre safely with due regard to terrain, gradients and other site users
- Load, transport and tip materials while maintaining stability and control
- Understand safe positioning for loading by excavator and tipping near excavations
- Recognise the effects of visibility, ground conditions and surrounding hazards
- Shut down, secure and hand over the machine in line with site procedures

Entry requirements

PPE requirements
Bring your own PPE: steel toe-cap boots, hard hat and hi-vis clothing. Additional task-specific PPE may be required depending on the working environment.
