Social Mobility Pledge

The Pledge is a coalition of 550 businesses that globally employ in excess of 5 million people, along with over 50 universities representing almost 2 million students. It encourages organisations to being a force for good by putting social mobility at the heart of their purpose.

Organisations taking steps to boost opportunity and social mobility is more important than ever as UK business’ face the challenges of a growing opportunity gap in the wake of COVID-19.

Speaking of the decision to sign up to the pledge, OHOB Workforce Development Director, Martyn Price, MBE, commented “O’Halloran & O’Brien fully supports initiatives such as the Social Mobility Pledge; Providing opportunity and outreach to individuals that encourages and assists them in gaining access to training, skills and employment is a thread that visibly runs though what we do.

Price continued “We take our responsibility as an employer very seriously and will seek engagement with all initiatives the improves access to opportunity, training and upskilling for all”

The recent announcement that the OHOB Training Academy has also signed the Social Mobility Pledge and become members of the Women into Construction organisation further underpins their on-going commitment to workplace equality, opportunity and diversity.

Commenting on these initiatives Price said “It was an easy decision to make to sign the Social Mobility Pledge and join forces with Women into Construction. Our ambition remains the provision of opportunity to all”.
