Joins Women into Construction
WiC is an independent not-for-profit organisation that promotes gender equality in construction. There work underpins the provision of bespoke support to women wishing to work in the construction industry. It also provides assistance to contractors who are looking to recruit motivated, trained women, helping to reduce skills gaps and create a more gender-equal workforce.
Speaking about the decision to sign up to the WiC organisation, OHOB Group Chairman Tom O’Brien said “The development of the construction industry in the UK must be underpinned by equality of opportunity and an increasingly diverse workforce. The organisational values offered by WiC in respect of empowering women in the sector closely match the aspirations of OHOB and the OHOB Training Academy, we have many so examples of females, doing exceptionally well across all parts of our business, membership feels like the next logical progression for the business to showcase these opportunities.
“We look forward to better promoting the breadth of construction career opportunities and tackling industry skills shortages through our alignment with WiC”.
Commenting on the news of the OHOB Training Academy joining the WiC organisation, Group Workforce Development Director, Martyn Price, MBE, stated “Joining the WiC membership it was an easy decision to make, the Training Academy’s values are closely aligned with those of WiC. We look forward to the opportunity to better promote the breadth of construction career opportunities we have on offer and to contributing to tackle construction industry skills shortages together. Our collaboration is already paying dividends, we have had several quality referrals from WIC”.
