Overview
This City & Guilds Confined Spaces (Medium Risk) programme is designed for anyone who needs to work in, or control entry to, medium risk confined spaces. It covers the practical and knowledge requirements for safe entry, control measures, team communication, and emergency arrangements.
Training is delivered at the O’Halloran & O’Brien Training Academy in our bespoke confined spaces unit, allowing learners to develop competence in a controlled environment that reflects real site conditions.

What you’ll learn
- Understand confined space hazards and what makes a space “medium risk”
- Prepare safe systems of work including permits, RAMS and briefing
- Carry out pre-entry checks including atmospheric monitoring
- Control entry safely as an Entry Controller and maintain effective communication
- Select and use suitable PPE and control measures for the environment
- Respond correctly to changing conditions and stop work when needed
- Understand emergency arrangements and the importance of rescue planning

Practical training in the confined spaces unit
- Safe entry procedures and communications
- Entry control, logs and maintaining an effective system
- Emergency arrangements and escalation procedures
PPE requirements
Bring your own PPE: steel toe-cap boots, hard hat and hi-vis clothing.
